Improving Access for Deaf People

Building strong relationships is key to business success, which means clear, consistent communication across all languages and communities. We can help you develop a linguistic solution to improve the accessibility of your services and broaden your customer-reach.

We offer consultation to Interpreter colleagues and other businesses. We’re always willing to discuss how services for Deaf people can be improved and generally be made more accessible. I recently gained recognition from the East Midlands Chamber by being a finalist in the Social Impact Category.

Having worked as a BSL/English Interpreter for over 20 years, I am keen to continue to enhance the customer experience for Deaf and hard of hearing customers. I offer expertise in addressing the whole Deaf customer experience from marketing of your services to reach this untapped market, easing the experience of making contact, enhancing their customer experience and maintaining this customer base so they are encouraged to make repeat visits and spread the word.

My approach is ‘user friendly’, wanting to equip you and your staff with skills and knowledge whilst developing your customer reach.

Access and Inclusion Toolkit

I offer bespoke workshops, which will develop your Access and Inclusion Toolkit. I develop workshops to fit your needs, which can be anything from short and intensive to larger scale seminars. Alongside this, I offer packages of ongoing support, which can be agreed on a retention basis. I want to engage with you, empower and inspire you.

These will answer questions such as:

  • Why is there a need to do things differently?
  • How can we develop our provision to ensure we develop our services?
  • How can we ensure our staff are confident when dealing with customers who have different needs?
  • Are our policies and practices fit for purpose and do they meet the needs of Deaf and hard of hearing customers?

Access Audit

To assist you with working out the best approach for your business, I offer an access audit programme. Initially, to see where you are now and offer recommendations. The next step will be a return visit to follow up on recommendations and implement any necessary training. This can be arranged on a rolling programme to enhance the knowledge of all staff.

Charges

Charges are on a sliding scale in relation to your requirements and as such are quoted on an individual basis. Services are available on a retainer basis to enable you to get value for money.
